Do you want to expand your cycling horizons?
Do you want to expand your horizons but are unsure you will make it? Do you dream about going further on your bike but are worried about getting home again?
Well, I was the same a few years ago. I live in the mountains, and every time we went out on the bikes, I was worried that I’d be unable to get home as I was knackered as all roads lead uphill to home! Or I would have a wee meltdown as I felt my legs were going to fall off (I was a bit dramatic). Or I would just get fed up with being too hot and not enjoying the bike ride. So, when my husband uttered those 5 special words – “why not try an ebike”. My whole life changed.
Your horizons are vast.
Whether you live in the mountains or it’s as flat as a pancake, the further afield you can go, the better you feel and the more independent you become. It boosts your confidence to know you can cover longer distances without fear of not getting home. Or if you are going to tackle a new route, you are safe in the knowledge that you will finish it, even if the terrain is a bit rough or you have a hill in the middle.
I never used to go out on a bike without my husband as I would be too scared I’d be unable to make it home, and then have to make the phone call of shame to ask for a lift! Now, I go out cycling all the time on my own. I am 57 years old and started all this malarky in my early 40’s. My younger colleagues teased me about riding a moped and that it was cheating. But I didn’t care as I was having the time of my life, and my holidays were all about going somewhere on my bike to explore. Now, those young colleagues are riding ebikes, too, inspired by my adventures and places I have been able to visit on my ebike.
Your horizons are within your grasp
That is the beauty of an ebike; it doesn’t matter what age, size or fitness level you are; you can get outside and enjoy the beauty of the country around you. Much better than sitting on a stationary bike in a gym, racing against people you neither know nor who care about what you did as soon as you step off that uncomfortable bike. On the other hand, on an e-bike, you have memories that make you smile for a long time after you dismount. We are also a friendly bunch, us ebikers, possibly because we get a bit of stick, but honestly, we don’t give a jot about what others say.
Think about all the benefits of an ebike ride; fresh air is good for your skin and mind. Exercise is good for your heart and your body. Scenery and seeing new areas are good for your well-being and build your knowledge and confidence. So, what is not to like?
You will spend less time travelling to a great place and enjoy more time when you are there. You will explore more and spend less time considering whether you can make it. You improve your health as a by-product of being on the ebike. You will smile more as it is impossible not to be on an ebike. You can thank me later or buy me a coffee!
