Germany
Germany is a fantastic country to explore by e-bike. Whether you’re cruising through river valleys, weaving through vineyards, or tackling gentle forest trails, the variety of routes and landscapes makes it ideal for cyclists of all levels. The country is renowned for its well-maintained and clearly marked cycle paths, and many long-distance routes are designed explicitly with leisure riders in mind, making them ideal for e-biking.
Some of Germany’s best-known cycle routes include the Moselle, Rhine, Danube, and the scenic Romantic Road. All offering relatively flat, enjoyable rides with regular stops for local food, wine, and cultural sights. Expect castles, riverside cafés, vineyard views, and picture-postcard towns around every bend.

There are also hidden gems such as Hallertau, Altmühltal, and Chiemsee, where you can enjoy peaceful countryside, lakes, hop fields, and traditional Bavarian villages without the crowds. These areas are ideal for relaxed riding with plenty of scenic detours and flexibility.

The cycling infrastructure is excellent: dedicated lanes, bike-friendly trains, and a strong culture of respect for cyclists. Most towns and villages are well-equipped with places to charge your battery, park your bike securely, and enjoy a relaxed lunch break.
Germany’s climate is generally mild, with spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October) being especially good times to ride. Warm enough for a t-shirt but without the extremes of high summer or winter rain.
Bavaria
This is the area I know best. Bavaria is a captivating region located in the southern part of Germany. With its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture, Bavaria offers a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors from around the world.
Stretching over an area of approximately 70,550 square kilometres, Bavaria is the largest state in Germany, both in terms of size and population. Its capital city, Munich, is internationally renowned for its Oktoberfest celebrations and is often referred to as the “beer capital of the world.” However, Bavaria has so much more to offer beyond its famous beer culture.

Lakes, Mountains and Rivers
Bavaria’s diverse landscapes will enthral nature enthusiasts. From the majestic peaks of the Bavarian Alps to the beauty of its lakes and rivers, such as Lake Constance & Chiemsee and the River Danube, the region is a paradise for outdoor activities. Hiking, skiing, cycling, and boating are just a few of the many options available for those seeking adventure or a peaceful retreat in nature.
History & Culture
Bavaria’s history is deeply rooted in its medieval heritage and royal past. Castles and palaces dot the landscape, including the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle, which inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. History buffs can explore the historic towns of Regensburg, Nuremberg, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber, where medieval architecture and well-preserved city walls transport visitors back in time.
Bavaria is also a cultural hub, boasting a rich tradition of festivals, music, and the arts. Beyond the lively atmosphere of Oktoberfest, the region hosts a multitude of celebrations throughout the year, showcasing Bavarian traditions, such as the colourful costumes of the Trachtenvereine (traditional costume clubs) and the vibrant folk music of the Alphorn and the accordion. The world-class opera houses, theatres, and museums in Munich and other cities provide a wide array of cultural experiences for visitors to enjoy.

Sausages, Pork and Pretzels
Furthermore, Bavaria’s cuisine is a treat for food lovers. Indulge in hearty dishes such as Bratwurst, Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), and pretzels, accompanied by a refreshing Maß (litre mug) of beer. Don’t forget to try Bavaria’s famous Weisswurst (white sausage) and sample the delectable pastries like Apfelstrudel and Nussecken.
Whether you’re seeking natural beauty, historical wonders, cultural immersion, or culinary delights, Bavaria has it all. With its warm hospitality and the charm of its people, this region captivates visitors with its blend of tradition and modernity. Come and experience the magic of Bavaria for yourself, and what better way to explore than on an ebike?
