E-Biking in Vorarlberg: Alpine Valleys and Quiet Scenic Trails

Vorarlberg, Austria’s westernmost province, is a hidden gem for e-bikers. Tucked between Lake Constance and the high Alps, it offers a mix of peaceful valley rides, forested hills, and stunning mountain backdrops—all easily tackled with the help of an e-bike.

The Rhine Cycle Path along Lake Constance (Bodensee) is ideal for leisurely touring, as it connects lakeside towns and nature reserves with flat, well-maintained paths. Further south, the Montafon, Brandnertal, and Bregenzerwald regions offer a variety of routes through alpine valleys, traditional villages, and lush pastures, ideal for e-bike exploration, without requiring a seasoned climber.

Vorarlberg boasts excellent cycling infrastructure, featuring clear signage, charging points, bike-friendly accommodations, and local rail connections that enable you to mix and match your routes. Many of the cable cars in the region also carry bikes, making it easy to access panoramic trails without a long uphill slog.

The cycling season runs from late spring to early autumn, with summer bringing warm days and crisp mountain air, and autumn offering quieter paths and colourful views.

I’ve cycled several routes across the region, from lake loops to valley trails, and I’ll be sharing these on the site with practical info and photos to help you plan your own ride.

If you’re after peaceful, scenic rides with a strong local feel and fewer crowds, Vorarlberg is a fantastic place to explore by e-bike.
