Lower Austria

Lower Austria is a fantastic region for e-bikers who enjoy a mix of culture, nature, and relaxed cycling through scenic landscapes. From the rolling hills of the Weinviertel to the terraced vineyards of the Wachau Valley and the forested paths of the Waldviertel, there’s plenty of variety, and electric assistance makes it all the more enjoyable.

The province is full of well-signposted routes. Highlights include the Danube Cycle Path through the UNESCO-listed Wachau, the Kamp-Thaya-March route in the north, and the Thermenradweg in the south. Many of the paths pass through wine villages, castles, and peaceful countryside—perfect for a day in the saddle with regular stops for food, photos, and tastings.

Lower Austria is very bike-friendly. There’s a growing network of charging stations, e-bike rentals, and cyclist accommodation, plus good connections with local trains so you can adapt your route as you go.

The region’s mild climate and mostly gentle terrain make it ideal from April through to October. Spring brings blossoms and fresh green landscapes, while autumn is harvest time—great for wine, food, and colourful rides through the vineyards.

I’ve cycled extensively through the Weinviertel, the Wachau, and other parts of Lower Austria. These routes will be available on the site, complete with practical info, route tips, and highlights along the way.

If you’re looking for an e-bike destination with a relaxed pace, stunning scenery, and a touch of culture, Lower Austria is well worth exploring.
