Caorle, Veneto, Italy

We recently spent 3 weeks touring around Italy by car and ebike. This was the 1st stop on our travels, Caorle, Veneto in Northern Italy. We have been to Italy many times before however, this trip was to explore the areas we love even further and visit places we have never been to before.

Caorle

Caorle is a beach resort, which is chock-a-block full in summer with sun worshippers. However, in the off-season, it becomes a great base for exploring the area by ebike. Alternatively spend the day in Venice the ferry goes from Punta Sabbioni, which is around an hour from Caorle. Or go for long walks along the beach path, which stretches for miles along the coast. The centre of Caorle’s old town is cobbled streets with loads of coloured houses and narrow streets they call it “little Venice”. And you can see why when you take a stroll through the heart of this pretty fishing town. With its winding streets and houses of all colours and don’t forget their small but mighty harbour with fishing boats of all shapes and sizes.

Fishermens huts (Casoni)

A particular area of interest is the fisherman huts (casoni) which you can see dotted around the lagoon. These were homes not only for fishermen but also farmers and hunters from the Veneto area. Read more about them here: https://www.caorle.it/en/news/the-casoni-of-caorle/

Italy really is a country of vast differences, I think of the north as mountainous with lakes and vineyards. However, from the video, you can see that in Caorle and the surrounding area, this is not the case.

A cycling holiday in this area can be teamed with not only a visit to Venice, but if you are tired after all your exploring by ebike, then you can enjoy some beach time.
