Hochbreitaualm, PillerseeTal, Austria

Hochbreitaualm

The Pillerseetal has a huge amount of ebike tracks on offer and the Hochbreitaualm is one of the quieter ones. You will really feel like you have got away from it all on this route as you get higher up in the mountains.

The Hochbreitaulam route is quite difficult and the height gain would be completely out of my reach on a non-ebike. However, with a bit of effort, my ebike and my heart rate monitor, I can do this type of climb and feel so proud of myself afterwards!

Starting from St Ulrich, you make your way along the bike path beside the lake and down towards Waidring. After going through the gorge on the main road, look for signs about 400m on the left for Weissbach.  This is the start of the route up the mountain. Keep to the right, this will take you through the Weissbach Gorge and on up to the Hochbreitaualm. Once at the top there is a track over and down towards the Hotel Lärchenhof. Be aware the track is not open for bikes all the way down. Therefore you could end up having to carry or push your bike.

The best thing to do and really enjoy a downhill ride go back the way you came and stop to take photos along the way.
